Q-Ride
The Process
Saferider Motorcycle Training
offers a range of courses , each tailored to provide students with the life long skills and knowledge required, for the safe
enjoyment of riding motorcycles
1. Obtain a Q-Ride RE Learner’s Licence from Queensland
Transport (QT). To obtain an
RE Learner’s Licence, you must have held a provisional or open licence for another class of vehicle, for at least one
year during the last five years. You may also choose to obtain your motorcycle (class R) provisional or open licence
through Q-Ride (after obtaining your Q-Ride certificate). However, you must have held your motorbike (class RE) provisional
or open licence for at least one year before learning to ride a class R motorbike.

Training will assist you in choosing the Q-Ride course most suitable for your level of experience. Saferider will
make every effort to enrol you in a training course that meets your individual requirements, by arranging
course times that fit in with your home or work commitments.
Saferider also offers if preferred, very affordable individual
'one on one' training courses . at a time that is suitable to you.
Enrolling you in the
appropriate Q-Ride course/lesson(s),will give you the relevant skills required to successfully complete the
Q-Ride Assessment.
Should you be able to demonstrate that you already pocess the required skills, it
may be possible for you to jump straight to Q-ride assessment without any additional training
3. Learning to ride:
On the day(s)of training/assessment,please come prepared to do motorcycle training/ assessment-
-by having the appropriate boots, jacket, trousers, helmet and gloves; - by completing and signing
a Declaration of Eligibility for Q-Ride Training Form - by completing the Saferider Motorcycle Training
Enrolment form and - by producing the applicable RE Learners
Licence or RE licence
At the successful completion of your training course, you will be able to demonstrate competency
in all of the skills, knowledge and attitude required, and specified in the Q-Ride Program, and be capable
of performing these competencies consistently, over a period of time, in a range of situations on multiple occasions.

When the Learner Rider (being taught by an accredited rider trainer) has achieved competency in all the competencies of the program, the accredited rider trainer will supply a Competency Recommendation
Notice to the Manager of the Service Provider within 1 day, after the learner has been assessed as competent. When the learner Rider has achieved competencies in all of the competencies of the program the learner will be presented
with a Competency Declaration Certificate for the class of motorbike for which the training is given
5. Getting your RE or R licence:
This Competency Declaration
Certificate must be presented by the learner rider to a Queensland Transport Customer Service Centre within 12 months
of receiving the certificate, then the appropriate licence will be issued by the authorised personnel at Queensland Transport .
